How well do you listen?
Many of us don’t listen very well at all, it turns out. We tend to make our listening all about ourselves, listening self-referentially, projecting our own experiences, beliefs and feelings onto the other person, and we often listen through the filter of our own goal in the conversation: fixing, controlling, judging, confirming our own view, avoiding conflict.
This short artical from The Conscious Leadership Group offers some practical guidance to improve our listening and bring it to a deeper level, helping you stand out in work and social settings: How You Listen Is How You Lead – The Art of Conscious Listening.
How does it feel to be truly listened to?
Listening is one of the most fundamental skills of a coach. It is through deep listening, without any personal agenda or judgement, that our clients can do their very best thinking, increase their (self) awareness and explore their goals, their dreams, their options. How often do you engage with a listener like that? If you are curious and want to experience this for yourself, contact us to set up a discovery call.
